When you just can't eat another salad in Bali

Big night? Craving carbs? There will come a time after all the cocktails and Sunday sesh 2 for 1’s, that a detox juice and smoothie bowl just won’t hit the mark. Why? Because sometimes salad is just not enough. Sometimes you just need bacon.

Here are the best ways to fuel up on the good stuff. These are just some of Bali’s best pizzas, burgers, and BBQ places…

Bali’s Best Burgers:

From BossmanWah Wah Burger to Fat Tony’s and Ubud faves Watercress, CP Lounge and Locavore to Go (follow up with a bespoke hot dog it’s a life changer) the burgers are bad ass in Bali. Head to behind the Monkey Forest in Ubud for Black Sheep’s legendary Wagyu beef burger piled up with all the good stuff. Or try The Butchers Club Steakhouse who serving up amazing steaks and the Michelin Guide-listed burgers they made famous in Honkers, complete with maple glazed bacon. Drool. Reach for the fries and pickles stat.

BBQ and beyond:

Think delicious pork ribs, aged beef, wood fired smoky goodness - this is BBQ Bali style. Whether it’s Argentinian wood fired prime grass fed beef at Batubara in Ubud or Bali’s ‘meat boutique’, Boy’N’Cow where you can slather your prime dry aged cuts with Bearnaise, chimichurri or black pepper jus. BBQ is a must do in Bali. Salazon goes next level with dry aging and salt curing and a menu that covers all the bases: duck, fish, pigeon, chicken, pork, and beef. Super stylish. Try out Chops! Meat & Gin, Si Jin Steakhouse, Puerta 26 for Spanish style, Chops & Hops or The Grill @ Luxe.

Once you get past the spectacular mosaic details and swoon worthy decor you will soon see that Barbacao lives and breathes wood fire, charcoal and BBQ to create its Latin American rustic flavours. Or head to the divine Pica South American Kitchen in Ubud for one of the best pork belly dishes on the island. Or Thy Neighbour for a juicy Thai style tomahawk.

Traditional Bali pork ribs are always a lip smacking must try. Head to the world famous Naughty Nuri’s, Warong Pondok Madu, Wahaha or Bli Crackling.

Can’t afford the plane ticket to Santorini? Mykonos is calling but you can’t get there soon enough? Now in two locations,  Nostimo is where us Greeks go for a hit of the homeland. With authentic taverna vibes, white washed walls and Instafave blue chairs - this is where you feast on souvlaki platters, mezze, Greek lamb, and traditional pork Gyros dripping with tzatziki! Opa! Wash it down with a real Greek frappe.

Pizza! Pasta! Come and get it!

Who doesn’t love the cheesy slice? The pizza gods certainly smile in Bali - you can fill up on wood fired, thin, crusty, extra pepperoni (yuuummm) goodness and better yet have it delivered to your door or poolside. We all know pizza makes everything better - so let the cheese rain down! Head to Milk & Madu, Dumbo, Mamma Mia, Hanks Pizza & Liquor, Rustica Bali, Warung Citta Ovest, Prego, Da Romeo or Uma Cucina - there are dozens of pizza joints to choose from. Trattoria in Amed serves up a mean slice and some neat pasta favourites. In Ubud you cant go past Black Sheep who bring their signature wood fired deliciousness and hand made pasta offerings to the village of Nyuh Kuning.

Life is too short to just eat salad.
