Jatiluwih Rice Terraces - Bali

I disappeared into the hills and once again went for a walk through one of my favourite places on the island recently. Escaping to the North of Bali means steep, winding, nailbiting roads and torrential downpours this time of year. You are greeted with stormy mountain vistas, giant bamboo, lakes, waterfalls, farms and mists. All the good stuff.
This is also Bali's food bowl and to prove it - the roundabout is a statue of a corncob and a cabbage. So pop into nearby Candi Kuning market on your way home - have a haggle and buy local strawberries, fresh peanuts boiled in turmeric, fruit and veg and bags of local spices and snacks.
