Geraldton, Western Australia
This week we had our first 'city' fix in a while in Geraldton. We washed the dust off the bus ( it's been there since the Pilbara), we wore shoes and found our real clothes. It also blew a gale every day and rained (haven't seen that happen since Adelaide). We went from 38 degrees to 19 in a matter of days. Even the dog sulked.
But after all the dusty roadhouses, lack of fresh food, tiny /nonexistent supermarkets and overpriced two bit towns we have visited /endured in the last few months - good ol' little Geraldton proved to be a culinary lifeline.
We finally had our first decent coffee in ages, drank craft beer, bought sourdough bread and goat curd and ate at a smokehouse. It was finally business as usual.
So if you are ever in the neighbourhood I reckon you should check out: The Provincial, The Jaffle Shack, Cafe Fleur, The Burnt Barrel out in the Chapman Valley for immense BBQ smokehouse eats, The Platform Markets for squeaky fresh produce, goat cheese, honey and olive oil and some excellent Indo food truck satay. Pack a picnic and head to the Point Moore lighthouse, the foreshore or just kick back on that WA coastline.
🙌Windswept beaches 🌊 craft beer 🍻 and bus 🚌 repairs ✔️done. Onward.
